Webinar on Certificate Course in Palliative Care (Course Objectives and Outcomes)

Panelists: 

Dr. Rajam Iyer  -  Consultant Pulmonologist and palliative care physician at Bhatia and Hinduja Hospital, Mumbai.  She is an MD: Pulmonary Medicine: Bombay University-1995, MRCP (UK) 2006 . She has a fellowship in Palliative Medicine from IPM- Calicut-2018 and currently pursuing a Masters in Palliative Medicine from Cardiff University. Her focus is on Non- Cancer Palliative care

Pheroza Bilimoria - Founder trustee of THE JIMMY S BILIMORIA FOUNDATION and a well-known personality in media and marketing communications in India with 33 years’ of  experience.  In 2013 after losing her husband to cancer, she pledged to help alleviate the suffering of patients at end stages of life limiting conditions such as cancer.  PALCARE was launched in December 2015 to provide a much needed home-based, multidisciplinary, palliative care service for patients, across the length and breadth of Greater Mumbai. 

Dr.  Kalpesh Jain - Senior Medical Officer at Palcare. He completed his MBBS in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, and has been practicing as a family physician since 1993. His work experience includes serving as a Chief Medical & Administrative Officer at Singhi Hospital in Mumbai and as a Medical Officer at the Rele Clinic, Diagnostic Center, in Mumbai. He has completed the “Six-Week Intensive Diploma Course in Palliative Care” as well as a “Training Program for Doctors and Nurses on Children’s Palliative Care” conducted by the Tata Memorial Centre. 

Certificate Course in Palliative Care

Course Objectives:

  • Principles of Palliative care and medical ethics- to aid in decision making
  • Identify, assess and control distressing symptoms
  • Address health related suffering of patients and caregivers
  • Communication Skills: How; What; When and Where to converse with patients
  • Provide good end of life care for the patient and bereavement support for the family
  • Self-care and prevention of burn out of health care professionals
  • Palliative care in the context of the ongoing pandemic
